All my life, I've had really ugly skin.
My family would dismiss it as "toxic" skin, and no one really knew why. I would breakout in rashes and stuff really easily. I assumed I was just born with ugly skin, and there was nothing I could do about it. My arms and back had it the worse, although as I got older, the random skin ailments stopped popping up so much.
As you can probably tell, the decades of skin boo-boos created a ton of scarring. I don't even know what to called it... Hives? Eczema? Warts? Rashes? I have scars all over my back, arms, and legs from an assortment of... everything.
Part of the problem is just not knowing what to do. Like what products do I use, and how do I use them? Once again thanks to my girlfriend, I learned about some of those very products. And now I knew their secret, so that was how them girls got such nice and clear skin all over their bodies.
But... do I really need ALL that stuff?
Not everything, but more than you think! So I decided it was now or never! You could either accept your fate or try doing something about it. And I was going to try fixing this. Let's dive right in.
These Are A Few Things You Can Do To Fix Ugly Skin
Seeing other people with super nice skin, I'd be jealous. Man, would it be nice to walk around shirtless and not be self-conscious. Some people will say, "you're a man, just get over it!" That is true, but you know how it is. It could not bother you, but it still bothers you.
People would be staring at the redness, scars, and rashes... instead of my eyeballs.
So what do we need?
I boiled it down to 3 things, when you commit to using them all in a routine. You will feel almost immediate relief, I felt like I was slowly shedding off all that "toxic" skin. This was a feeling that was hard to describe, but is very worth it.
1. Scrub
2. Soap
3. Lotion
Begin With A Body Scrub
I started with an aggressive salt scrub, that smells so yummy, I wanted to pour it in my mouth and eat it. How can something so salty, be so milky at the same time? It smells just like powdered milk, but even more rich and creamy. Maybe one day I will have a little taste.
Just take your time, with a firm circular motion, scrub your entire body down. If you go too hard it will sting really good. I recommend going easy the first couple times to see how much your skin can handle.
How often should you use it? For me, I used it everyday for a couple weeks to get rid of my itchy skin. And it really does scratch that itch, the abrasiveness and the sanitizing action of the salt really hit the spot.

I love that cow! |
Your skin will be pretty roughed up and red, but the next couple steps will bring nourishment and moisture back to your skin.
Follow Up With A Hydrating Body Wash
After you have exfoliated your entire body, you hit it with the super hydrating body wash. This was something I bought on a whim from CVS, a body wash made for extremely dry and sensitive skin. I was surprised when I first squirt some on a wash cloth, it is just oil.
A combination of oils that looked a lot like runny snot, but it does wonders for your skin. Sadly, it does not foam up at all. So you need to be careful not to over do it, I had a hard time gauging how much soap I needed. Trust me, just one big squirt on your puff or towel, and you should have enough for your entire body. It won't feel like anything is there, but you'll see once you start rinsing off.
But man does it work. My skin was silky smooth after using that body wash!
Finish It Off With Some Lotion
I prefer using something on the lighter side made. The one I used in my post about putting lotion in your hair was perfect. It is super hydrating and light, so my skin absorbed it in a hurry. But for some reason, this time I decided to try something thicker, and it was too rich. After a few hours I felt like a giant ball of grease. Kind of oily, sticky, and gross.
Unless your skin is literal crocodile, something too thick would probably be a little excessive.
And there you have it!
I've been using this routine for about a month now, and what are my results? My main focus was to fade the scaring. And I am glad to report that it is starting to fade, it wasn't night and day, but enough to notice. The rashes that would pop up during winter time seem to have calmed, the areas where it usually shows up are now moisturized and smooth, which seemed to have stopped the millions of tiny red bumps! I am glad, because they were UGLY! Big patches of raised red bumps. The strange part is, they usually show up in the same area every year. For now, it seems to me that exfoliating and moisturizing is the winning ticket.
I will report back a year from now during next winter to see if they stay gone. I've been using creams like Cortisone. all over and a lot of it! If I can fix this skin issue without the use of any medication, that is a huge win!
